Maracanã Stadium: Skip The Line Ticket
World Cup finals, the Olympics, Pelé's 1,000th career goal; Rio's Maracanã Stadium has seen its fair share of…
The Corcovado ticket is the easiest way to reach Christ the Redeemer, standing 710 meters above Rio de Janeiro. It includes a round trip aboard the Corcovado Train, an electric cogwheel train inaugurated in 1884 that crosses Tijuca Forest in around twenty minutes, plus entry to the monument. You book a specific time slot: at Cosme Velho station, you board directly without queuing at a ticket counter.
At the top, you'll see the 30-meter statue (38 meters including its pedestal), inaugurated on October 12, 1931, and listed among the New Seven Wonders of the World. The viewing terrace offers a 360-degree view over Sugarloaf Mountain, Guanabara Bay, Copacabana, Ipanema and Maracanã Stadium. Allow 2 to 2.5 hours for the whole visit.
Important for 2026-2027: from August 3, 2026 to the end of May 2027, the escalators at Alto Corcovado are being replaced and two panoramic elevators are being built. The monument remains open, but capacity is reduced by around 50%, and the final stretch is via a stone staircase of about 80 steps. In practice, time slots sell out faster, and booking several days ahead becomes essential, especially on weekends and from December to February.
The ticket does not include transport to Cosme Velho station (metro to Largo do Machado, then a 10-minute bus or taxi ride) or meals. Children under 5 travel free on an adult's lap.

Choose the option that suits your visit: train only, guided tour, or combination with Sugarloaf Mountain.

The classic option, the fastest way up.

An English or French-speaking guide and transport from your hotel.

Both of Rio's panoramic views in one day.

Christ the Redeemer welcomes close to 8,000 visitors a day; during the 2026-2027 works, half as many people can go up at the same time. These tips help you avoid the wait and the clouds.

Corcovado (meaning "hunchback" in Portuguese) is a 710-meter granite peak overlooking the southern zone of Rio de Janeiro, at the heart of Tijuca National Park, the largest urban forest in the world. As early as 1884, Emperor Pedro II inaugurated a rack railway here, Brazil's first electric line built for tourism: it is the very same line you ride today, and it was used to carry the pieces of the statue up to the summit.
Christ the Redeemer was designed by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa and sculpted by Frenchman Paul Landowski, with the collaboration of engineer Albert Caquot; the face is the work of Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida. Built of reinforced concrete covered in soapstone mosaic tiles, the statue was inaugurated on October 12, 1931, after nine years of work. It stands 30 meters tall, 38 meters including its pedestal, with a wingspan of 28 meters.
Named in 2007 one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the monument now receives more than 2.5 million visitors a year.
Popes, heads of state, Albert Einstein and Lady Diana all rode the little train before you. The terrace at its base remains, along with Sugarloaf Mountain, the best viewpoint over Guanabara Bay.

Yes. The train operates only with timed slots, and until the end of May 2027 the monument welcomes half as many visitors at a time. Book at least two to three days ahead, a week in advance during high season (December to February, Carnival, New Year).
The train + monument ticket is available from around €40 on Tiqets, with prices varying by season [to verify: use the "from" price shown on the listing]. Guided tours and combos with Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain) cost more but include transport.
Allow 2 to 2.5 hours: 20 minutes by train each way, 45 minutes to 1 hour at the summit, plus boarding wait time. During the 2026-2027 works, allow an extra 30 minutes.
The train is the historic and most comfortable experience, with a fixed departure time from Cosme Velho. The official vans leave from Copacabana or Largo do Machado and are useful when the train is fully booked. Both include admission to the monument.
Check the Corcovado webcam before you go. If the summit is covered, reschedule your slot: most Tiqets tickets can be cancelled free of charge up to the day before. Clouds often clear by mid-morning.
The train is equipped for wheelchairs. At the summit, the elevators are operating, but until the end of May 2027 the escalators are being replaced: the final stretch is covered by about 80 steps, with stair-lift seats available on request, in limited numbers.
From August 3, 2026 to the end of May 2027, the four escalators are being replaced and two inclined panoramic elevators are being built. The monument remains open daily, with capacity reduced by about half.
Yes, the train is the easiest way to go with children. Children under 5 travel free on an adult's lap [to be confirmed]. Bring water and a hat: the terrace is fully exposed, and there are many steps during the ongoing works.
Both, if possible: Corcovado for the statue and the sweeping view over the whole city, Sugarloaf (Pão de Açúcar) for the cable car and the sunset over the bay. Visit Corcovado in the morning and Sugarloaf in the late afternoon.
From May to September, the Brazilian winter brings clearer skies and smaller crowds. From December to February, the heat, afternoon showers and crowds are at their peak: book the first morning time slot.
Take metro line 1 to Largo do Machado, then bus 422 or 583, or a 10-minute taxi ride. From Copacabana, allow 20 to 30 minutes by taxi depending on traffic.
Most tickets sold by Tiqets can be cancelled free of charge up until the day before your visit; the exact deadline is shown on each listing before payment. If the train is closed due to bad weather, your ticket is rescheduled or refunded.
